THE YOUTH ORCHESTRA
The Youth Orchestra and Choir is a platform for young musicians in Abu Dhabi to express their talent in music, through educational programmes, rehearsals and concerts throughout the year.
It was established in 2022 thanks to a collaboration between the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi and the International Music Institute and it soon became an important institution in UAE with more than 20 performances to date in prestigious venues such as Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation, Emirates Palace, Etihad Arena (NBA Games) and important collaborations with the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra , Orchestra of Dream from South Korea, Wiener Koncert Verein orchestra, China Symphony Orchestra and more. The students also attended masterclasses with Seoul Philarmonic, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and artists such as Sarah Chang, Timothy Choi and others. In October 2025 the Youth Orchestra of Abu Dhabi completed its first concert tour in China with two performances in Zhenjiang and Beijing.
The program is open to all music students in the UAE, who get selected through an audition process.
The selected students of the Abu Dhabi Youth Orchestra will receive the following benefits:
- Weekly training/rehearsal
- Participation in concerts in major venues in Abu Dhabi (Cultural Foundation and others)
- Certificate of Participation
Level accepted for the audition:
Junior Orchestra: ABRSM Grade 3-5 or equivalent
Senior Orchestra: ABRSM Grade 6 and above or equivalent
Choir: basic knowledge of music theory and singing technique
(ABRSM graded exams or equivalent is preferable)

CONCERT HIGHLIGHTS
The Youth Orchestra Concert Tour in China - October 2025
October 2025 - Marking its fourth year of activity , the Youth Orchestra of Abu Dhabi embarked on a successful tournée in China with two concerts in Zhenjiang in Beijing. The talented students of the Youth Orchestra presented a challenging repertoire featuring the Egmont Ouverture by Beethoven and West Side Story by Bernstein, which summed up the artistic achievement obtained through consistent rehearsals and practice. In Zhenjiang the students from Abu Dhabi had the chance to perform alongside their locals student orchestra while in Beijing they shared the stage with the China Philarmonic Youth Orchestra during a memorable performance of the Dance of Yao People. Aside from the concert and rehearsals the week in China have been a memorable experience for the students also thanks to the visit to museums, a boat trip in the charming Zhenjiang and the visit of the Temple of Heaven and the Great Wall in Beijing, and a lot of delicious food!

November 2023 - The Youth Orchestra and Choir performed alongside the prestigious Royal Philarmonic Orchestra under the baton of Vasily Petrenko at Emirates Palace for Abu Dhabi Classics (Abu Dhabi Culture)

September 2023 - The Youth Orchestra and Youth Choir performed some of the most famous family movies soundtracks at the Cultural Foundation Auditorium for Abu Dhabi Classics (Abu Dhabi Culture)
with the Orchestra of Dreams (South Korea)
October 2024 - The Youth Orchestra and performed alongside the orchestra of Dreams from South Korea during a concert at NYUAD for Abu Dhabi Festival
a Tribute to Jazz
April 2025 - The Youth Orchestra and Choir performed a concert featuring music by Bernstein, Gershwin and Marquez within the International Jazz Day celebration organized by Abu Dhabi Culture .
